It can happen, but it is not common and should be discussed with your doctor.

Dear closs,

I have often felt faint during migraine attacks, especially when rising or moving too quickly.

When I had a migraine attack that lasted (off and on) most of June and July, then finally went to the hospital after three days with no relief from rescue meds, I fainted on my way out of the car into the emergency room.  Imagine the indignity of passing out in front of a hospital emergency room, and then still waking with the severe migraine :)  I was rewarded for this by being ushered into a wheel chair with a pink plastic vomit bucket to hold on to.  How attractive.  And to top it all off, I had to have my husband wheel the chair facing a wall, because the noise and lights in the waiting room were killing me.  Good news:  treatment in the ER helped resolve the migraine.

For your case, is this the first time you fainted?  What did you do just prior?  What, if any, meds did you take?  Any preceding symptoms?  Share all this with your doc, definetly call and let him/her know of what happened, and what advice they would give for the future (one doc told me when feeling dizzy, sit down on the ground right away, until the feeling passes--saves stitches in the head from a bad fall).  If this is your first time fainting, the doc should probably see you to evaluate.  After all, if this is a change for you, maybe something is different?

Good luck with your migraine treatment, and definetly call your doc.

Take care.
