Hi Daffydeb,

That is really the "million dollar" question. No one knows for sure because not everyone's hormones fluctuate the same. So, your Migraines may or may not become less frequent, I'm sorry to say.....

Video: Migraines and Hormones is an interview with Migraine specialist Dr. Krusz on this topic.

Role of hormones in causing Migraines? is another good article.

I hope this helps,

Nancy

Hi Debbie.  My mother suffered from migraines most of her life.  She recently told me that her migraines decreased in number at menopause.  She still has migraines but not s\as many.  I am also 51 and have not experienced this.  My mograines have actually increased in the past year.  It is difficult for me to tell where I am in menopause because I had a histerectomy at age 32.  I hope this gives you some hope.

Hi Debbie, I am not a doctor, just a fellow migraineur. I have had them since 18 and am now 47. Had a full hysterectomy at 45 due to various complications, my ob-gyn thought it best for full removal - so I have been in menopause since July 07. I still get migraines, though not as often. I was attributing this more to botox injections I get every 12 weeks - also am on topomax daily (just switched to toperimate-generic and am finding it less effective). I am going to be talking with my neuro next month about the topomax because that is the only change as of late that is pronounced. These migraines are crippling. I am heading off to bed. Hope you feel better-peace, Bellyake
