Sue,

-:¦:-•:*'""*:•.-:¦:-•*Welcome to MyMigraineConnection!*•-:¦:-•:*'""*:•.-:¦:-

OK, I'm going to be quite blunt here - that's total nonsense. Please do yourself a favor, fire that doctor's sorry butt, and get yourself to a good headache specialist.

We may not have cures, but there ARE treatments, so many possible treatments that there's simply no excuse for any doctor to say there's no hope! Here's what I think of that doc and that idiotic statment...

It's important to note that neurologists aren't necessarily Migraine and headache specialists. Take a look at the article Migraine and Headache Specialists - What's So Special? If you need help finding a Migraine specialist, check our listing of Patient Recommended Migraine and Headache Specialists.

So, don't let a statement by one ignorant doctor make you lose hope. OK? You deserve better than that. There IS hope.

Please, keep me posted, and let me know if we can help you with information and support?

Welcome again,

I was told the same by a doctor when he told me I have migraine headaches. He said: you will not die, but you will have it for all your life. But there is much more to learn than from a doctor's conclusion! There are possibilities and ways to be found. Have a good trip in knowing yourself and afterwards help others to help themselves!

Doina,

Thank you so much for joining this discussion.

What's frightening about your doctor's comment is that Migraines have caused strokes that have killed people. Dismissing this disease so lightly can be harmful in the long run.

I love what you said about knowing yourself and helping others. We also have to be sure we learn about this disease so we can live with it as well as possible.

Thanks again!
Teri

I just want to second Teri's penguin slap.

No hope? Learn to live with it?  Fire.  His. Sorry.  Butt.

Migraine and Cluster headache are life long diseases, and there is no cure, but as Teri said there are many treatment options.

Please look at the list of Migraine Specialist she gave you.  There IS hope, and you most certainly DO NOT have to just live with it.

What a horrid person and poor excuse for a doctor he must be. Kick him to the curb and get yourself a real doctor!

I have asked a similar question before.By the way,it was also a question of the week.I suffer from a severe unbearable migraine since childhood. My doctor also concluded that it is a genetical(It runs in my family)neurological disease and I have to live with it and avoid triggers, particularly food triggers. Teri was very annoyed and similarly answered my question. I did quit that doctor and now seeing another neurologist and planning to see a migraine specialist in U.K.
