Usually the cerebellum and these structures of the brain stem sit in an indented space at the lower rear of the skull, above the foramen magnum (a funnel-like opening to the spinal canal). When part of the cerebellum is located below the foramen magnum, it is called a Chiari malform Type 1 is the most common type and a person may not have any syptoms associated with it.
Medications don't typically "hide" symptoms of any disease, rather, they help us manage, or lessen them. Does that make sense? Let me know if this helps,
Nancy
