Q: Is there anyone else htat has a migraine like mine?

I am a 17 year old girl, living in wyoming, and has had migraine since i was 4. But since april of 2009, the last 9 months, i have a continuos migraine. It never goes away, it never lessens, it just hurts all the time. I have tried just about everything there is, we even went to california to see a doctor about this, but nothing seems to help. I am trying really hard to stay positive and happy, but some days, it just gets to hard. So i am trying to find someone else who has the same condition, or something similar, and see how they can cope with it. thanks.

migraine sufferer,

Is this Migraine like other Migraines you've had, other than how long it's lasted? One reason I ask is that I'm wondering if it's a Migraine or something else. If it's a headache rather than a Migraine, you might ask your doctor about new daily persistent headache (NDPH). The reason that comes to mind is that you know when this one started, and it's continuing so long. You can read more about NDPH in New Daily Persistent Headache - The Basics.

MamaD gave you some good basic information. Your mother, in her response, said you don't take any "pain meds." She didn't say whether you were taking Migraine abortives such as the triptans (Imitrex, Zomig, Maxalt, etc.) or ergotamines (DHE and Migranal). It's important to know that these can make matters worse by causing medication overuse headache too. I can't tell from your question if there's any possibility of that or not, so I do need to mention it.

I can't share your experience of a single Migraine for that long, but my heart goes out to you. I hope you'll go back and read the information I gave you in September when you asked about this Migraine. You can find it HERE. I will repeat part of that post because it's the best suggestion I have to offer...

If your doctor isn't able to help you, it may well be time to consult a Migraine and headache specialist. It's important to note that neurologists aren't necessarily Migraine and headache specialists. Take a look at the article Migraine and Headache Specialists - What's So Special? If you need help finding a Migraine specialist, check our listing of Patient Recommended Migraine and Headache Specialists.

Please keep me posted?

Teri

I understand what you are going thru.  I too have been having migraines since a child.  I also have tried many therapies, drugs, etc.  I went to the Diamond Headache Clinic in chicago in November.  They admitted me to the migraine floor of St. Joseph's Hospital.  I was there for 6 days.  I had all the usual test, but my doctor put me on a different kind of drug therapy.  I am taking alot now, but the first two months I never had a headache.  I have also had relief with massage therapy.  I hope this little bit of my story helps.  Keep your chin up!  We are all in this together.
