Q: I am on Keppra for Migraines but started acupuncture that might be working. Where is info on this?

What does acupuncture do that helps reduce occurance or severity of migraines?

Where are the studies or others that feel acupuncture work for migraine?

I suffer from migaines since childhood. In the past 10 years, these headaches disrupt my life, work, and sleep. On Keppra, its more under control. After a series of acupuncture treatments both my migraines and sinus headaches seem/appear better and occurance greatly reduced.

I do not want to commit to thinking this treatment works because I am skeptical of chinese medicine--but I do have to look at real results...:)

Hi lse031,

Acupuncture, like any complementary therapy, may work wonders for some people, but not so well for others. Some people do see a reduction in their Migraine frequency and severity with this treatment. There are few studies available on this treatment, however, a study was recently conducted in Germany where acupuncture is used more commonly. You can find that information in this article: Acupuncture for Migraine - A Sham or Miracle?

If you are having good results and fewer Migraines, then that is a good thing.

Good luck

Nancy
