My neurologist suggested taking an additional Inderol before work out. I had to quit the gym and now I'm at the point where I can't even walk for 30 minutes.

Hi Sheryll,
We have a few questions in Ask The Clinican on this very topic.
Preventing exercise triggered Migraines?
Magnesium or other supplements for exercise-triggered Migraines?
Something to keep in mind is when trying new Migraine prevention medications it is important to give them a fair trial. That could take up to three months in some cases for our bodies to adjust to the medications.
Good luck
Nancy
Hi Sheryll - Here's just my personal experience: My exercise-induced migraines seemed to be related to blood flow in the head. That is, I would always turn bright red in the face and it seemed like my head was pumping full of blood. I would take a dose of Fiorinal or Fioricet right after (as soon as I got to the locker room or the car - I think taking it before or during exercise would have thrown off my balance). I think the effect of the caffeine in those has some relation to blood dilution of vessels in the brain...? In any effect, in those instances I would usually feel better in about an hour or two. Also, I would drink a TON of water, but make sure not to throw off my salt content. I like smartwater (I get it at target) b/c it has electrolytes in it, but just tastes like plain, pure water, not like a flavored sports water. Best of luck!
Hi, I am in the same boat!:>( I would warn about taking a extra inderal though, that is one of those drugs that like to be taken on a reg. basis. I take 40mg 3xs a day. Please ask your Dr. about that again. I manage to walk about 6 blks with my puppy, before I get out of breath, then I head for home. I have noticed that when I get tooo revved up(per se) I then end up with the headache. I started with 3 blks...getting better.:>) But, I did used to roller blade for miles, and ride the bike and just go and go...and now I feel like I am in jail or something. So I do feel for you. Those at the gym I was considering, said some have had relief using the pool, but I haven't tried it. From me to you, I would watch your blood pressure and make a chart, and call your Dr. again about it. Have you seen a neourologist?
