Q: What do you suggest for hormonal migraines?

I need a suggestion/solution for migraines, when the biggest trigger is Hormones.  I have tried many meds, but it seems that the only solution that is repeatedly suggested is a Hysterectomy.  And I don't want one, then I have to be on the hormone meds...   I am that 1% who cannot take hormomes easily, I get blood clots.  So this is a BIG drama for me.  Please let me know what you do know..

Thank you:>)

Hi -- I too have suffered terribly from hormonal migraines.  You may have already tried this (since you mention you tried a lot of meds), but have you tried the anti-seizures?  That is: Neurontin, Keppra and Lyrica?  Also, have you tried CoQ10?  I am currently on Neurontin 1200 mg/day plus CoQ10 300 mg/day (CoQ10 takes 3 months to be effective), and that seems to work.  Topomax has also worked, but it made me unbearably sleepy, so I had to stop.  Also, a really good doctor to talk to about hormonal migraines is Dr. Stephen Silberstein in Philadelphia.  Hope this helps...good luck.
