Q: hemiplegic migraines, w/chiari malformation, just diagnosed with 4mm x 6mm pituitary adenoma

Daughter in ongoing treatment for complicated hemiplegic migraines, also has chiari malformation I, just diagnosed with 4mm x 6mm pituitary adenoma touching but not compressing the internal carotid artery. We have appt. with Endocrinologist, (already a patient), and neurologist wants to know what endo thinks. I want to know which came first and if this is a common thing to have all three rarities.

Hi cathysoup007,

Hemiplegic Migraine (HM) is a rare form of Migraine disease you can continue reading more about that HERE. We have information on Chiari you can read about on this page: Chiari Malformation. I don't have anything per se on the adenoma and don't know about them happening together.

A Migraine specialist, or doctor who specializes in these conditions may be a good solution. It's important to note that neurologists aren't necessarily Migraine and headache specialists. Take a look at the article Migraine and Headache Specialists - What's So Special? If you need help finding a Migraine specialist, check our listing of Patient Recommended Migraine and Headache Specialists.

I hope this helps.

Nancy
