Q: why did 3 different people ask me the same questions in the ER - thus prolonging my relief?

Nebula,

 

There could be any number of reasons -- not being organized, double checking, or lots of other things. The only people who can answer that are the ER staff.

How on earth would you expect someone who wasn't there in the ER with you to answer this?

they are trying to make sure you head really hurts.  They think they are sly, but a real migraine will still be there after a few questions..I suggest you get a paper filled out from you reg Dr. to give them info about your head, when you are in a Emergency.  Then they will be able to know this is a on going thing ..for real.  Not just a reason to get meds.
