Q: Behavior prior to basal migraine

Is it likely that a person diagnosed with basal migraine would act abnormal, or possibly irrational, during the hours prior to an attack of basal migraine "aura"?

Trudi,

There are four possible phases of a Migraine attack. The prodrome can occur before the aura, and it can include emotional swings and changes. Throughout a Migraine attack, there can be some issues with "mood" as levels of neurotransmitters such as serotonin are affected. You can read more about the possible phases of a Migraine attack and their symptoms in Anatomy of a Migraine.

I must add though that "abnormal" or "irrational" behavior, as any other new or different symptom does need to be discussed with the person's doctor to be sure that it is from the Migraine, and not something else.

Hope this helps.

Welcome again,

Teri
