Migraine is a genetic neurological disease. Some people who have this disease, have frequent Migraines most of their lives; other have only the occasional Migraine. Hormone fluctuations are a common Migraine trigger in women. It's possible that your homonal changes of pregnancy are the first trigger you've encountered that was strong enough to actually bring on a Migraine attack.

I've known other women who experienced their first Migraine during pregnancy. For some, the Migraines stopped during or after their pregnancies, and they only had them during pregnancies. For others, the Migraines continued after the pregnancy.

Tension-type headaches can also trigger Migraines.
