Why is there no way to prevent Barometric Pressure migraines? my neuro and I have tried everything, we can only treat the pain, which is beyond description. Some have said that cluster headaches are also called suicide headaches, well, move aside, Barometric Migraine Pain is suicide pain, and has, caused people, who are not taken seriously, or are considered hysterics, have taken their life. This is totally unacceptable to me, but I cannot lie, I have entertained the thought myself. I mean, 20 years of this? And they are only worse in peri-menopause. Why are doctors so hesitant to treat the persons miserable pain with proper pain meds? Luckily, my doctors have treated me with opiate therapy ever since they began. It is my only release, my only relief, my cycles are pretty routine, or were, following an A frame type of course, a beginning, at the top of the A frame, the worst pain, 3rd day, coming down off the migraine. Finite time cycle, until peri-menopause, this week I had 12 hours off before the next one hit me, this became so severe I thought I could not survive the pain, it seems, that after a year of no menstrual cycle, I got my period this past wednesday, which explains the reason the pain became so unbelievably intense.

Dear Jhona -

You have all my sympathy! When our systems are very sensitive, as our Migrainous nervous systems are, they respond to all kinds of changes in our environment, barometric pressure is one of those changes for many of us. Have you and your doctor seen the article Migraine preventive medications - too many options to give up! ? I can tell you that some of the members of the Migraine forum have reported that their doctors have prescribed Diamox for their barometric pressure Migraines. You might want to talk to your neurologist about whether that would be a possibility for you.

If you'd like to talk with other Migraineurs and get some additional information and support, come join our discussion forum. You'll need to register again once there because it's a separate membership database, but you can use the same member name, email address, and password that you used here. You can find our forum at Migraine Forum.

Good luck!
