Hi Marge,

I'm sorry to hear you've had such a rough time recently. Do you know if your strokes were related to your Migraines? We have some information on stroke risk and Migraine you can watch in this video, TIAs: Get a Second Chance at Life and read about in Migraine and Stroke Risk.

When living with Migraine disease and any other chronic conditions, we cannot let the behavior and attitudes of others rule our lives. Migraine is a disease as surely as diabetes, MS, or thyroid disease. As difficult as it is, we can't let others influence our thinking or our actions. We can try to educate them though. You can find materials for doing that in Migraine and Headache Education for Those Who "Don't Get It".  Keep a print out on hand and give it those "non-believers."

And really, it sounds like it is past time to see a Migraine specialist. It is important to note that neurologists aren't necessarily Migraine and headache specialists, may be fine doctors. The thing is they aren't experts in any one area because they treat so many different conditions like MS, stroke, and epilepsy. A Migraine specialist is a expert who only treats one condition - ours -  Migraine and headache disorders. Keep reading for information on: Migraine and Headache Specialists - What's So Special? Then you can take a look for a Migraine specialist on our patient recommended list.

I hope this helps, and do let us know how you are feeling, ok?

Nancy
