Q: My husband has been laid off is there anyway i can get my medications for a lower cost?

the migrain meds i take is outragously expensive. Just to take the Frova 2.5 will cost us over 400 dollars. We will not be able to cobra its over a 1000 dollars a month. We actually will be with out insurance all together until my husband finds the next job. In the mean time what Can I do. I take other meds for migrains too. Hi Sheri,

Most of the pharmaceutical companies have patient assistance programs to provide free medications to patients with no insurance who meet their income guidelines. Those guidelines are pretty generous. Try going to Partnership for Prescription Assistance to check on all of your medications. You list all of them on the site, and it will tell you which ones have programs you qualify for. It will then even take you through the process to fill out the application forms and print them. You then take them to your doctor for his or her signature and send them in.

We've also heard that generic Imitirex is available, so you may want to check into that. For other prescriptions, the big box stores have $4 plans you may want to look into, and my independent pharmacy is almost matching their prices to stay competitive.

Good luck

Nancy
