It's best to abort the Migraine -- stop the Migrainous activity in the brain and the related symptoms -- rather than just masking the pain for a few hours with pain medications.

Some pharmacies are getting generic Imitrex now, called sumatriptan. That would be the least expensive of the triptan medications. Another relative inexpensive abortive medication is Midrin.

    Good luck,

I suffer, and find that paracetamol and codine works brilliantly, and if I have none of that, then paracetamol and ibuprofen.

The best tablets are soluble ones, or ones that you can take without water, because they enter your blood stream quicker than solid tablets.

Then, as much as it makes me feel sick, I try and sip a pint of water, and then sleep.

I can get paracetamol and codine (not soluble though) from a pharmacy here for about £1.50 - cheap!
