Jon,   This must be done carefully and under doctor's supervision because the butalbital in Fiorinal can cause seizures if it's discontinued too abruptly.   Is your wife ready to stop taking the Fiorinal? If not, nothing you can do is going to help until she's ready.   Is she taking it for headaches or Migraines? If so, she needs to understand that when taken more than two or three days a week, Fiorinal is very likely to make matters worse by causing Medication Overuse Headache (MOH), aka rebound.
