I am trying to be good about avoiding all of my triggers.  Exertion is a stackable trigger for me.  However, I walk up several flights of stairs at work everyday instead of taking the elevator and once in a while it will trigger a migraine.

Should I give up on the stairs and just take the elevator?  I really don't move around much while I am at the office which is one reason I haven't stopped taking the stairs yet.

Hi there!

This is a good question, but not one that we can readily answer for you.

You said the stairs are a trigger for you "once in a while." How often is that? Do you have Migraine abortive medications that work well for you when climbing the stairs DOES trigger a Migraine? Do you know what other triggers have to be present? If so, can you avoid any of them?

This would be a good question to discuss with your doctor. Try to sit down and take some notes, some of them answering the questions I posed to you. You also don't say if you're taking anything for Migraine prevention? If you are, maybe your doctor could adjust your regimen to help with this occasional stackable trigger.

Please keep us posted?

Good luck,

Teri
