Q: Intravenous Anti-seizure Therapy????

Hi,

I am suppose to start a 5 day course of intravenous anit-seizure therapy to break my migraine cycle tomorrow. I was wondering if anyone has done this before? What were the results and/or side effects?

My issues started out of the blue about 2 years ago.I have been diagnosed with possible Sporadic Hemiplegic & Acephalgic migraines. My neurologist refered me to a headache/migraine clinic. The intravenous therapy is what they recommened..Also I am to be tested for some sort of heart defect and possible epilepsy...From what I understand HM can mimic or be caused by those 2 things.....I have had all sorts of MRI's and bloodwork. My MRI shows about 15 spots in the white matter specifically in the left frontal lobe.

Any help would be greatly appriciated..

Thanks.....

Please bear in mind that all people react to meds differently. I will share what is my experience and remember that it is only MY experience. I received Depacon IV for three days inpatient and I hated it. I also have Hemiplegic Migraines and though it broke a cycle, it only lasted a little less than two weeks. However, by the time I left the hospital I felt like I had received long term chemo. I was so weak I could barely walk or eat for three days afterward and then VERY slowly improved from there. I will never do it again. My docs have come up with an alternative plan that helped a great deal the last time I did it, and it was outpatient IV's.

The best to you, I hope you find some help!
