Michell,

Sounds familiar! Have you tried Midrin? It helps the initial pounding in the head. I have found it to be helpful "most" the time. Although, it's not 100% every time. It has given me some relief. Trust me, I have been there, and ready to give up! It's no fun, and it's a lonely feeling with Migrianes. Because there is a whole world going on out there, and they don't have a clue of the pain. Only "us" who suffer with these know. I find hope in prayer, and it's helped me deal with my pain. Don't give up, keep trying, and hoping.

Good luck!

Denise

I second the recommedation of Midrin!  The triptans stopped working for me a few years ago, so I started taking Midrin.  It's not perfect, but it lets me go to work most days.

Hi, Can I ask what is everything?  I get the most relief when I take Butabital, vicidin and midrin at the same time.  For some reason this combo works.  Or I drop the midrin and take the Nasal Imitrex when a realllllyyy bad one is coming on or already here.  I am constantly rotataing meds.  Feel like a yoyo some weeks.  And then I get way toooo happy when I have no headache.  :>)

i have taken the butalbatal (fiorocet), oxycodone, i have taken midrin, but it was probably 15 years ago. i have tried inderal, neurotin, verapamil, topamax for preventatives. those are the ones i can think of. none with no big help. i will give the midrin and fiorocet a try. i work at a dr office and am afraid to ask for vicidin also. thanks for the help.

Hi, Michell!

I know how you feel. I spent almost 10 years in daily migraine pain. But there is hope. If you're having pain every day, you need to see a migraine/headache specialist. And if you've tried one, try another one. I've been seeing one for a year, and have in that year gone from daily to half that, and from twice monthly trips to the ER to three trips in the whole year!!Cool Before I saw this doc, I saw 8 different neurologists who knew n-o-t-h-i-n-g!

I'm taking a handful to pills every night, though, and have some awful side effects. I have an appointment soon and will be discussing the fact that I'm not happy with the side effects.

I have taken almost every triptan. Each triptan works initially , and then I "get used to it." So Ihave to keep them on a rotating schedule. Ask your doctor to try that.

I hope this helps or at least gives hope! All of my medications are listed on my home page.
