Q: Do you think severe allergies can cause severe migraine attacks?

Do you think severe allergies (ones which cause an anaphylaxis response) can cause severe migraine attacks? I'm wondering if my exposure to latex, just being in a room with a lot of latex, might be causing some of my more severe hemiplegic migraine attacks. I do have an anaphylaxis response to latex, and latex therabands are hanging all around the room where I have my physical therapy twice a week.

Jaclyn,

Experts are divided on this. Some say that whatever we're allergic to will also be triggers. Other say that if things we're allergic to are also triggers, it's coincidence. Yes, I know that's not a good answer, but it's the best answer we have.

Let me ask you -- are you keeping a Migraine diary? That would certainly help yuu determine if you're encountering a trigger during your physical therpay sessions. You can download a free diary workbook from our article Your Migraine and Headache Diary.

Keep me posted?

Teri
