I have been having seizure like episodes for the last 5 years, I also have migraines. The seizure like symptoms are as follows. It starts with dizziness almost always, then I will get a shocking zapping feeling that start with a move of my head it travels from my head and down my spine. I will feel hot and flush and my whole body feels tingly. I will feel sick to my stomach and at times gage and dry heave due to bad smells that aren't there. I will feel short of breath. I get real fatigued for the rest of the day and also get a headache. I will also feel the need to use the rest room both 1 & 2.Most of the time when this happens they happen in groups of days. My question is this, could these seizure like episodes be migraine aura? When I first started getting migraines I did not have these sysmtoms no aura just the migraine. Thank you, Pam

    Hi, Pam,

I see that you also asked a question about Migraine aura symptoms back in April of 2009, Help please. Strange Migraien Aura.

At that time, you'd seen your primary care doctor, but he had told you that nothing could be done. Did you see a Migraine specialist between then and now?

All of the symptoms you describe could be Migraine aura symptoms. However, nobody can confirm that for you via the Internet, and it is important for you to get to the bottom of this and be sure that there's nothing else going on. These same symptoms could also be symptoms of other issues, including stroke or TIA.

The best suggestion I can offer is for you to see a Migraine specialist. It's important to note that neurologists aren't necessarily Migraine and headache specialists. Take a look at the article Migraine and Headache Specialists - What's So Special? If you need help finding a Migraine specialist, check our listing of Patient Recommended Migraine and Headache Specialists.

    Please keep me posted?

    Teri

Thank you for the reply. I will be seeing my doctor next week. These symptoms have gotten worse and will wake me from sleep. The headaches are terrible on their own but with the episodic sypmtoms that make me feel so sick and out of control it make me a bit crazy. I am not currently on any prevenative medicine for my migraines only imitrex. So I am hoping that maybe with some preventives it might help these auras too.

    Hi Pam,

I have also had these same symptoms. As a matter of fact, just yesterday, I was at the hospital with a migraine, chest pain, dizziness, tingling and numbness in my face and arm on the left side. In the ER the Dr. first treated me as if it was a heart attack, but everything was normal with my heart, and then he sent me to have another CT scan, and said that there was no change from my last CT that was about a month ago. No signs of sinus problems and no signs of a stroke...He felt that all of these symptoms were coming from my migraines and my Chiari malformation, that I have just recently been diagnosed with.. I hope you find the answers you are looking for and that you feel better soon....
