Kestrel,   Fioricet is not a Migraine abortive. It's a pain medication, and it cannot stop the Migrainous process in the brain, only mask the pain for a few hours. It's sometimes used as a rescue medication if your abortives fail. For more information on the difference between abortives and rescue medications, please see Preventive, Abortive, and Rescue Medications - What's the Difference?   When you've taken Maxalt or any of the triptans, you need to wait at least 24 hours before taking Cafergot or any of the ergotamine medications.   Hope this helps, Teri
