Q: how different is the brain activity in brain with BTM migraine compared to a light epileptic seizure?
I have typcial basilar type migraine, at this stage in my life (I'm 38) its caused by hormones so I changed from the anticonception pill to the copper spiral and no attacks so far. I used to have migraine as a kid but they dissapeared afer I got children, only two years ago they migraines were back.
In my case several things were in combination with hormones (occasionally) a trigger, like red wine, coffee and feeling hungry.
I wonder what is really happening in the brain that causes numbness, loss of speech (and I once tested if I could write rather then speak but that is not possible also) forget the name of my son, unable to concentrate or follow a conversation, unable to see everything.. like a blind spot in the middle of my eye, in both eyes (so it does not help using one eye).
All these symptoms come from the brain stem, what is really happening in your brain? are parts not getting enough oxygene? I heard a migraine like that are veins shrinking and expanding, is there not enough blood going to the parts of your brain that control eyesight and speech?
I think its such a shame so little is understood about migrane, all the symptoms are described perfect.. if you would ask me, its not really different fom an epileptic seizure but doctors do not agree, how can this be if nobody actually knows what happens in the brain?
