I have been on most migraine medications with no help or too many side effects to continue on them, so I have been offered botox injections.  I wanted to see if anyone has had the botox injections done to them and what results they experienced.  Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Tracy I have also tried dozens of meds and alternatives and botox was one of them. It didn't work for me but I give everything a try. It was a little scary as he put 18 shots into my head front and back each time. I tried it 2 or 3 times.

I was in a botox study and had the injections four times.  It did not help me, but I understand it can help some.  Ever since I had the injections, I have had problems with my neck - restricted movement and severe muscle pain.  Apparently paralyzing the muscles in the back of my neck triggered spasms in the muscles on the sides of my neck and I still suffer from it almost two years later.  My latest neurologist said she would not have put the injections in the neck.  I recommend that if you have the injections, avoid the neck.

Tracy,

I see a couple of people have shared their experiences with you. Although I haven't used Botox, I can tell you that it is quite effective for some, but by no means all Migraineurs. You could probably get more first-hand feedback on our discussion forum. You'll need to register again once there because it's a separate membership database, but you can use the same member name, email address, and password that you used here. You can find our forum at http://forums.healthcentral.com/discussion/migraine/forums.

Good luck,

Teri
