Q: Smells that aren't there?

I always feel hungry and most days have upset stomachs. Lately I have been 'smelling' things, like a baked cake? or Absorbeen Jr. rub when no one else is smelling it...weird or what? Part of migraine?

Hi dlmw_58,

Smelling things that aren't there, like cake or even smoke, during the aura phase of a Migraine attack is called olfactory hallucination.  There are four phases of a Migraine attack: prodrome, aura, headache and postdrome. For more information on this you can read our article: Anatomy of a Migraine.

Good luck

Nancy
