Q: Recent frequent Migraines on the front of my head are becoming daily, what is happening?

Hey there,

My name is Scott, I'm 17 years old, and I've just come across this site to ask a question. Over the last 7 years or so I've been using a lot of computers, I tend to spend the majority of my day on them. But literally over the last week or so I have been in so much pain from migraines on the top-right-front side of my head. I'm getting quite worried considering after 7 years staring at a screen that this has only decided to happen now. My migraines have left me bedridden and I've found myself missing days and sometimes weeks of school.

Staff and friends in school have suggested for me to see an Optician, However I find that my vision is perfect.. Could it be that I need to visit an Optician?

These Migraines have become daily, I cannot seem to get rid of them. Infact today and one day last week were the only times I wasn't in excruciating pain..

Can anyone give me some advice?

- Scott.

Scott,

The best advice anyone can give you right now is this -- Get off the computer, and call your doctor!

Seriously, when our Migraine patterns change as yours have, it's very important to see our doctors to be sure there's nothing else going on. If your doctor thinks you need to see an optometrist or ophthalmologist, he'll tell you. An optician will do you no good since they are trained only to make corrective lenses.

Sit down and think about anything that might have changed too. Are you using a different computer monitor? Is your posture sitting at the computer different? Different desk or chair? Make notes on these things to take to the doctor with you.

Please see your doctor, then let me know what he says?

Good luck,

Teri
