The most commonly used supplements for Migraine prevention are:

      •  Vitamin B2

      •  Magnesium (If taking magnesium, it needs to be balanced with supplemental calcium)

      •  Coenzyme Q10 (Softgels, not tablets or capsules. It's less effective once powdered)

      •  Butterbur / Petadolex

You should talk with your doctor before adding any of these to your regimen.

Feverfew used to be recommended frequently, but it has now been shown that it has a rebound effect when you stop taking it. Also, it is not safe for women who are or could become pregnant.

There are several products that combine three or four supplements, but I'm personally not in favor of them. When you take a combination, you can't really tell what, if anything, works.

Hope this helps!
Teri

My neurolgist has me taking daily folic acid and magnesium. It seems to help.

I've had success with extra B vitamin supplements.  I take Phenobarbital,

which depletes the B vitamins, but I've had fewer (and less severe) migraines

since I started supplementing with a multi-vitamin high in B vitamins.

I have tried feverfew, unsuccessfully.  I am not trying standardized butterbur.  It's only been a few days, so can't tell you whether it makes a difference or not.  It was recommended in an article written by a Naturopath.
