What is the connection between Migraine w/Aura and Cervical Osteoarthritis

Topics:Migraine Treatment

I have spurs on C2, C3, C4, C5, etc. with mild stenosis. Also have Familial Hemiplegic Migraine and Status Migraine.

A cervical epidural and/or nerve block has been suggested by Pain Management Surgeon.

He promises that my headaches will go away.

What is the connection between cervical steroid injection and reduced frequency of Status Migraine and Migraine w/Aura that is triggered most of the time by Weather.

Thanks for the info.

My first real experience with chronic head pain...

Thursday, June 05, 2008

Hi mary,

Migraine is a genetic neurologic disease, which means it cannot be made to "go away" as much as we would like it to or as much as we are promised it can be.  Migraine disease is a managed with lifestyle changes, trigger identification and manangement, and medication when necessary.

Cervical spine issues can trigger a Migraine attack, not cause one. The blocks your pain doctor is talking about will temporarily block the pain, but will not get rid of FHM. As I mentioned in my other answer to you, breaking Status is important.

Good luck

Nancy
