I have had a terrible time finding someone for my daughters migraines. Through my mistakes I would recommend that you find a good primary care doc that understands migraine. Ask when you call to make that initial appointment. If you go to a neurologist make sure that they don't specialize in one area such as sleep. The neurologist I took my daughter to said she couldn't have migraines because she didn't always get headaches. But she always went into a hyper sleep state before the migraine or as the first phase of the migraine. Sometimes the headache would be light or not at all. So he said she must have a sleep disorder. We ended up having to have a sleep study done as well as MRI and EEG. Still don't have a migraine diagnosis. Which is a real important first step to advocate for yourself or your child.
