Julie,

We can certainly give you a list of headache specialists, but none of them treat patients at no charge.

Your friend needs to take information that proves her income and pay a visit to your local health department or the local office of the state department of human services. Some health departments provide services on a sliding scale, according to income, and the state HHS could talk to her about assistance including Medicaid. Other than that, check to see if there's a free clinic in your area.

Good luck,

Teri

has she applied fro social security assitance...and a disablity rating.?

this would get her into  med care and help her to be productive later  once the situation is medically managed.

she can also work backwards and apply for state voc rehab where she can at least get a slow eval to show she's too disabled to work  or supply suppports so she can .. it will open a door.

doing this now will help her most and they will collect past med records and send her to doctors. it can take a year or more.

but please remember if you apply for ssa benefits ssi or ssdi look for legal assistance from legal  aide or the ones who charge % of the win.  (PAY NO  up front fees. thats illegal.)

getting help from SSA  is also an adversarial process. especailly for pain and other less well lobbied disabled groups.

this young woman may also want to seek advocacy from the american cancer society or whoever was the support group attached to her brain tumor treatment and recovery.
