Is there any real treatment/medication that works for CDH which doesn't respond to triptans and preventatives? I live with Chronic Daily Headaches 24/7 that are between a 5 and a 7 on the pain scale. I do get migraines also and they usually don't respond to triptans either and I'm in real trouble then but my question here is does anything work for the CDH's? I have taken a whole lot of different med's which fall into the preventatives group and am now going back onto Topamax and adding Effexor to see if the mix works for me, Topamax works well for me to control the migraine attacks. I've tried botox, had a lumbar puncture to check IIH, had MRI's & MRA's, sinus surgery. I was taking ibuprofen often when the CDH's started 8 years ago so I would fall into the medication overuse headache category but I stopped taking them 8 years ago and don't take anything regularly now other than the preventative. The only thing I remember ever touching the CDH pain was Hydrocodone after my sinus surgery 5 years ago.
Is there anything at all that IS a treatment/medication for chronic daily headaches or that anyone else takes that helps them with CDH? It is just really, really hard to live every single day with such a terrible headache and never ever have a single day with relief. Even if I could just take something 1 or 2 days a week, I'd gladly get that day or 2 of relief. Please let me know if anyting out there would help.
I am 50 and might be able to look forward to these headaches subsiding when menopause comes around but I don't know how many years before that will be. It is really wearing away at me, my doctor has given me muscle relaxants and they don't help at all. My Relpax doesn't help, Axert/Imitrex/Frova/etc. do nothing. HELP!
Thanks. PinkPatty
