cntrygrl1978 is So tired of living with migraines and doctors that don't care.
I am a 29 year old married mother of 3 children.

I have been living with migraines since 1997 when I was in a car...

I live in central Virginia and have been to a lot of doctors with no results.  Does anyone know where I could find a good migraine doctor around here?  I've tried the preventative medications and all of the triptan medications with no results.  All I can do now is go to the ER and they just treat you like you are a "drug seeker".  I am a mother with 3 children and don't have the time or money to go to the ER for just drugs.  When I go I only need something to get rid of my migraine, even if it's just for a night.  I've been getting them a lot recently and I hate what it's doing to me and my husband and children.  Please help!!

Hi cntrygrl!

We have a list of patient recommended migraine specialists on our site. Check that list out and see if there is someone near you. Also keep in mind, some of us travel quite some distance to seek out good medical care.

So you have tried all seven triptans? None of them seem to work for you? I'm sorry to hear that. There is a new one on the market now, Treximet which is sumitriptan and naproxin.

I know it may feel like you've tried every preventive medication out there, but there are over 100 medications for migraine prevention, so don't give up!

As far as your treatment in ER's - it's just unacceptable. I don't know if you are aware of a new group that formed about 6 months ago, it's called Alliance for Headache Disorders Advocacy. You may want to check them out as well and get on the mailing list. Groups like this is how we get things like unacceptable ER visits changed. The voice of millions can and will make a difference.

Good luck!
