Topics:types of migraines

For years I have been experiencing stroke like symptoms.  Blurred vision, loss of memory, confusion, weakness on left side, balance problems, etc...  It was thought that I was having TIA's.  This was just lately put aside.  Then I showed ANA and positive lupus titers, the next test came back negative.  My MRI's and MRA's with and without contrast are negative.  Could this be some form of migraine and if so which form since at times I have light sensitivity afterward?

Hi Dee.

Hemiplegic Migraine has stroke like symptoms, but you would need to see a doctor to be properly diagnosed.

This type of migraine needs attention from a migraine specialist due to it's complicated symptoms.

Good luck!

Hi Dee,

I understand your frustration completely!

I have had a TIA or mini stroke as well.  I was in the car and my body pulled everything to the right.  I lost conciousness for a minute I think.  Thank goodness I didnt hurt anyone!

I also have a positive ANA and Scleroderma (also an autoimmune disease).

I have had an MRI and show small white spots.  I was told that these could be the past TIA and also proof of past migraines.

I was told to take an asprin a day.  That is all of the help i have ever gotten from doctors.  I wish that I could help you more, but that is it sweetie.  I hope that you find relief soon!

At one point the doctors suspected Lupus with the ANA and other symptoms.  They said that if I could get the Lupus under controle than the rest would get better, migraines includeded.  I dont have it and Scleroderma cant be controled, BUT they put me on Plaquenil.  this did help my sore joints, fatigue, and stiffness.  Maybe it will help you.  There are very little side effects and the eye issue is really not to worry about.

Best of luck to you!
