Q: Herniated disc at C-2

I just found out that I have a herniated disc at level c-2 in my spine.  Have you ever heard of this having any links to migraines?  I am having a steroid injection next week for it.  My neck has never really hurt that bad but many of my migraines start at the base of my skull.  I was just curious about the correlation between the two.

Hi Monica,

Migraine is a genetic neurologic disease caused by overactive neurons in our brains and genetics. Cervical spine issues can certainly trigger a Migraine attack. When working to identify triggers  one of the best tools is a good Migraine diary. You can read more about this and download a free diary workbook in our article Your Migraine and Headache Diary.

Good luck

Nancy
