Sharp pain on left side of head

I get a sharp pain on the left side of my head and my skin is sensitive on that side of my head. I have been living with this for over a month, and it comes every few hours and even wakes me up at night.  I am a 65-year-old woman. I don't have a history of headaches/migranes. What could be causing this pain?

    Hi Judith,

Please get off the computer and get in touch with your doctor. Seeing as you don't have a history of headaches/Migraines and have head pain that wakes you during sleep, you need to be seen as soon as possible by your doctor. Is this pain at your temples and are you having any other symptoms, say like the flu, or jaw pain and scalp tenderness?

Call the doctor, let me know, ok?

Hi, I'm getting those symptoms like some one has punched me on the left side of my jaw. It is giving me severe head aches jaw pain and sometimes ear ache. My doc has given me amitryptalin for neuralgia, but I don't think that is what it is as I have had that before and the symptoms were different.I also get ringing in that ear. Please help, this is driving me nuts!

      Karin.
