Q: Why would predisone for my asthma in my case reduse my migraines?

Why would predisone for my asthma in my case reduse my migraines? ive noticed a sharp decrease since ive been on a short coarse of predisone. Not that im complaining! But what if the migraines come back more severe? what could this be?

I just ran my answer by Dr. Krusz to be certain I was on the right track for you.

Part of the Migrainous process in the brain is an "inflammatory cascade." Steroids can work to stop that cascade, thus reducing your Migraines or breaking a long Migraine.

So, even though the prednisone was for astham, it could have helped with your Migraines. Unfortunately, the long-term effects of prednisone mean that it can't be used for Migraine prevention.

If your Migraines "come back more severe," it won't have anything to do with having taken the prednisone.

Check out my post on prednisone. It broke my last bad headache cycle. I'm back down to just a couple a week instead of constant.
