There are options other than oral medication. Since you're not able to keep the Treximet down, you might want to ask your doctor about sumatriptan injections. Sumatriptan is the same triptan that's in Imitrex. It now comes in generic injections and in a new injectable form that is needle-free called Sumavel. You can read more about Sumavel in Needle-Free Sumatriptan Injection for Migraines and Cluster Headaches.

There are also medications for nausea that you can inject or get in suppository form.

Doesn't your doctor have anyone covering for him when he's gone?

If you can't keep down meds and can't get hold of your doctor, you could try an urgent care facility or the ER and ask for an Imitrex injection. Asking for that instead of pain meds might make the visit easier.

If your doctor doesn't have anyone covering for him when he's gone, it's time, in my opinion, for a new doctor. That's just not right.

Keep me posted?

Teri

Go to your Dr. and get injections for your migraine pain and they will also give you an injection for your nausea.  This will let you sleep good for a whole day and give you the needed rest that you need.  Make sure you take someone with you to drive you home from the doctor's office, you won't be able to drive after the injections.  I have had these shots and have had incredible results.

The trouble with being so sick is that it's hard to get yourself to urgent care or the doctor's office.  You need to have something at home for the nausea.  Once you're stomach's not so upset, it'll be easier to keep the treximet down.  I take suppositories for the nausea and they work wonderfully.  They make me sleepy but that's ok, that's what you want to do.  Please know there are others who feel as you do.  I try to remind myself at that time that this too will pass.  It's difficult to go through that's for sure.  Wish there was a cure!

I use Phenergan suppositories and/or a melt-under-the-tongue med called Zofran, which doctors prescribe patients receiving chemotherapy. If symptoms continue and no relief is in sight, I have my hubby take me to urgent care or the ER from there. (I think I'd take a cab to the ER if hubby wasn't available. I don't let them go too long. I can't stand it!) Hope this helps!

Taking an anti nausea medecine which dissolves in the mouth or to be kept under the tongue,at the onset of migraine, will help to keep you from vomiting and sometimes even aborts the attack altogether. Unless you do this, the stomach, which usually shuts down during a migraine attack, will not even absorb your medecines or any food taken after that ,hence the nausea and vomiting.Anti nausea drugs help stomach motility and that itself solves half the problems which accompanies migraine.Pls do ask your doctor about this and take it at the first sign of an attack. It'll definitely help, don't worry..Good luck and God bless! Cheer up,there is hope!Smile I've been suffering from migraine for the last 28years. Using, petadolex helped me a lot, before that feverfew also helped but its using both together that helped me to control my headaches without allopathic medecines which have too many side effects.Of course i used to take painkillers a lot.Now i'm reaching menopause n the relief in frequency and intensity is unbelievable. Just wanted you to hang in there n tell you that there IS light at the end of the tunnel! Try out what i said, hope it helps !Smile
