Hi CATHARINE,
Namenda is used for Migraine prevention, and some people have good results with it. Something to keep in mind when you start medications - it may take up to three months before we see a reduction in our Migraine frequency and severity while our bodies adjusts to the new medication. Some potential side effects that may start early in the treatment may lessen as we continue with the drug. A slower increase may be needed too.
See the thing is if we don't give medications a long enough trial period (barring unbearing potential side effects), we won't know if that drug may have helped or not. So it really isn't fair to the drug or us. Does that make any sense?
You could also come over to the forum and see who has tried Namenda for Migraine prevention. You'll need to register again once there because it's a separate membership database, but you can use the same member name, email address, and password that you used here. You can find our forum at http://forums.healthcentral.com/discussion/migraine/forums.
Good luck
Nancy
I took Namenda for a month last month. It made me feel really weird and had no effect on the 3-4 migraines I get a week. Its hard to describe the feeling but it was almost like my brain was somehow disconnected from my body. My social reactions were all normal but I felt almost like I was observing through a 3rd party. I stopped taking it when I was up to 10 mg 2x daily. It did not make anything worse, if the migraines had stopped I might have been able to deal with the weird feeling.

thank you Nancy for your comment. i might consider restarting the NAMENDA at 5mg and staying there for awhile longer since i had no side effects at that dose.
