Q: Two weeks ago I had a cramp-like pain in the front of my throat (right side) and the pain went up to

I've had this cramp 3-4 times before. This time it happened at night and it sent up to my ear and over my head on the right side only. It was hard to swallow but after trying a few times it popped where the cramp started and the worst pain went away. I still have a slight pain in my jaw and ear from time to time and I've had the start of migraines four times since then, which I've been able to stop with 2 Aleve tablets. It also feels like I'm going to get another cramp but it hasn't happened so far.

Hi irene,

Sorry to hear about your the cramping in your neck. As much as I would love to be able to tell you exactly what is going on, the only person who can safely do that is your doctor who will go over your symptoms, discuss you and your family's medical history and give you a complete exam. Nobody can diagnose over the Internet, it just isn't safe.

Having said that, tense muscles in our neck can trigger a Migraine attack, but you really should seek out the help of your doctor to make sure everything is ok. This could be one of many different things, some serious, some not so much.

Please check with your doctor and let us know how you make out.

Nancy
