Q: Has anyone had symptoms like mine?

I am a 62 yoa male and I started having migraines in 1966. Real bad headaches started, then 2 months later I woke up with double vision, and still had dbl vision. I spent 13 days in the hospital. The neuroligist, nor any other doctor could find out what was wrong. In March of '67 my eyes straightened out. But, I've had bad headaches since then. Doctors finally figured out they were migraines. This last bad one, June 10th, 2008, put me in the hospital for 4 days. I woke with a bad headache, which was getting worse. Then I couldn't hardly walk, couldn't stand up straight, became confused. My wife took me to the emerg. room, I was told by doctor and family that I used the wrong words to answer questions, slow talking, when I talked. I was mostly "out of it," vomiting and very dehydrated. Doctors tested for a stroke, MRI, MRA, CAT scan, EKG, EEG, all kinds of blood tests, angiogram, etc. All negative, the only thing they found was the arteries in my brain were 50% occluded. The only thing they could come up with was a real bad migraine. I know it has left me scared I'll have another one like it.

Hi SubSailor566,

Your episode certainly sounds scary, but I'm glad to hear you are feeling better now.

May I suggest you see Migraine/headache specialist who is an expert in Migraine disease and headache disorders. Clearly, a second opinion is in order to help you get the right diagnosis. We have a list of patient recommended Migraine specialists you can see by clicking HERE.

Good luck

Nancy
