Hi, I am new here and have been diagnosed with hemiplegic migraines. Any treatment suggestions?

The best suggestion I can offer is to be sure your doctor has some experience with treating hemiplegic Migraines (HM).

If you need preventive treatment, there are many, many options. One of the most documented to be helpful with hemiplegic Migraines is verapamil. Abortive treatment, which stops the Migrainous process in the brain once a Migraine attack begins, is tricker with hemiplegic Migraines than most other forms of Migraine. Triptans such as Imitrex and Maxalt and ergotamine medications such as Migranal and DHE are generally not prescribed for HM. For abortives, that leaves only Midrin. If your doctor hasn't much experience with HM or is having problems finding effective treatment for you, consider seeing a Migraine speciaist.
