Hi martini,

Waking up with a Migraine everyday is exhausting, isn't it? I'm sorry to hear you are going through this. Here's thing thing - if you're taking Migraine abortive meds such as triptans (like Imitrex) or any kind of pain med more than two days a week, a big part of your problem may well be medication overuse headache (MOH), aka rebound. See Medication Overuse Headache - When the Remedy Backfires for more information on this.

To make matters a bit more complicated, Medication overuse has been shown to be a factor in 80% of cases of transformed Migraine. Stopping the medication overuse is key to stopping the transformed Migraine. You can read more about this in Stopping Medication Overuse Can Halt Transformed Migraine.

Talk to your doctor about this, and he should be able to guide you. If not, it is time for a new doctor!!

I hope this helps,

Nancy

One thing to look at is figuring out what's triggering these Migraines and trying to prevent them. Some triggers are avoidable, so if it turns out that what's triggering this is avoidable, that would be great. If the trigger isn't something you can avoid, it's time to talk with your doctor about preventive treatments.

When people wake with Migraines, one of the most common triggers is a sleep issue. It can be too much sleep, too little sleep, disrupted sleep, poor quality sleep, or an irregular sleep schedule. Sometimes, our sleep isn't good, restorative sleep, even though we think we're sleeping fine. Take a look at this video - Migraines, Headaches, and Sleep. Discussing your sleep with your doctor would be a good idea in trying to figure out these morning Migraines.

Welcome again,

Teri
