I am frustrated and need help???
Okay, I am 30 years old and have had a very rough year. I lost a baby in the beginning of Feb. I then started having muscle soreness and went to a rheumologist and ran all types of auto immune tests. They call came back negative. I guess that is a good thing. I then started feeling really sick with really bad dizzy spells where I would be just sitting on the couch or a chair and had the feeling that I was spinning but the room didn't move. I then would get really sweaty and then get sick. I would have these out of the clear blue sky. I had never had these before. I have been seeing as what I call them my shooting stars in my vision as white lights. I don't have any headpain. I saw an eye doctor and got new glasses. It didn't help with the lights in my vision. I have been having these dizzy spells usually every 2 weeks. I have been seeing a neurologist whom ran an mri, eeg, and eng. I was just in the er this past week when I had an really bad spell when I got to work. They ran a ct-scan and it showed that I had a arachnoid cyst. I just saw the neurologist today and was told that he couldn't figure out why I was having the spells that I am having. He told me that he ruled out MS and epilsey. He told me that he thinks that it could be mirgaines. I just kinda laughed. I told him that I don't have really much pain till I have a dizzy spell which the pain isn't that bad. I am just really frustrated and I was hoping that I would know more today than just feeling let down again.
I don't know where to turn to now. My sister has suffered from migraines since she was nine years old. No one in our family has them except her. Is there a form of migraines that has really bad dizzy spells like the ones that I have and with little to no pain. I just need help.
Symptoms: spinning feeling, sweaty, puking, tired, lights in vision, numb feeling across my forehead, across shoulders, and back of neck.
thank you
frustrated mom,
There may be more history of Migraine in your family than you think. Most of the time, if people look back, they find relatives with "sick headaches" or "sinus headaches" that were actually Migraines.
There are several types of Migraines and many different symptoms. It is indeed quite possible to have a Migraine without any headache. The headache is just one possible symptom. Take a look at Anatomy of a Migraine and Acephalgic or Silent Migraine - The Basics.
All of your symptoms could be Migraine, but we cannot diagnose or confirm a diagnosis online.
Did the neurologist you saw suggest any treatment? There are effective treatments, both to reduce the number of Migraines and to treat the Migraines we get. If your neurologist isn't able to help you, seek care from a Migraine specialist. Read Migraine and Headache Specialists - What's So Special? then, if you need help finding a specialist, see our listing of Patient Recommended Migraine and Headache Specialists.
Good luck,
Teri
