Q: ice pick headache has traveled down next and getting 4 stabs per minute

I have what I call an ice pick headache which started 2 nights ago and has not stopped.  The frequency of stabs is about 4 per minute and late yesterday it traveled down to my neck.  At one point it was behind my ear and felt like it was in my ear and I had some pain when swallowing.  The pains are now located just below my ear.

Hi Maureen1229,

For purposes of treatment, being able to get care if you're away from home, etc., you need a full diagnosis of what type of Migraine you have. You can read more about this in The Type of Migraine Does Matter.

So here's the thing - call your doctor and see what kind of Migraine HE thinks you have Then you won't have to be worried about self-diagnosing, ok? Only a qualified doctor can diagnose and treat you.

Good luck,

Nancy
