Q: How do I know if an OTC aspirin is "buffered? Is this different from enteric or coated aspirin?

Hi ukblue,

 

If you check the bottles, the labels should say whether they are enteric (coated), or Buffered as in Bufferin.

 

Buffered aspirin is coated with a substance that neutralizes acid.

 

Enteric coated aspirin- aspirin that is treated to pass through the stomach un changed and dissolves in the intestines.
