I am sixteen years old I have fibromyalgia. So I am in pain 24-7. I always have migraines, but I have experienced sharp pains on the left side of my head. It's aligned with my temple, but it's behind my ear. When the sharp pains happen. I become dizzy, my vision gets blurry, and my arm becomes tingly. I went to the ER and they said that I have to see the pain clinic. I took a CT scan and MRI when I was first diagnosed. They went over those and they couldn't find anything. They didn't want me to go through radiology. What should I do???
I'd really like to help you with an answer to your question, but can't, because it cannot be adequately answered online. You see, a diagnosis can only be provided by a doctor who can review your medical history, your family's medical history, discuss your symptoms, and conduct a complete exam in person.
Now, having said that, Migraine with aura can have some symptoms like limbs feeling like "pins and needles" and/or numbness. But those always go away after the Migraine attack. It is really important to learn about the type of Migraine you have so you can get the right treatment, and get care if you're away from home, etc. You can read more about this in The Type of Migraine Does Matter.
I'm sorry to say that pain specialists generally aren't a good solution. Their primary goal is to manage pain, but that's not the best goal of Migraine management. As you know, it's just as important to prevent Migraines as to treat the pain and other symptoms. Pain management specialists seldom know much about Migraine prevention, Migraine abortives, and total disease management. Take a look at the article Migraine and Headache Specialists - What's So Special?
