Has anyone ever experienced horrible burning in their head while on Topamax?
I told my Dr. and he just kept increasing the dose. The more the dosage increased the more it burned and hurt. Icepacks on the back of my head every night for over 2 months.

I have been on 50 mgs. of Topamax bid for over a year, and I have never experienced the horrible burning in my head as you describe. My dosage has just been increased to 75 mgs. at hs because my migraines are out of control. Also, my neurologist has changed my abortive med to Treximet as the Axert was no longer of any benefit. In addition, she suggested vitamin B2 400 mgs. and magnesium 500 mgs.
This will probably work for about three months until my body becomes accostomed to the meds. Then she will change the Treximet to Frova.
Icepacks are always in my freezer also!
If your doctor is not listening to you, then it is time to change your doctor!
Good luck and God bless.

Don't know about the buning in the head, but I was on it for a little while. At one point my body temp. went way up..it was about 70' outside and I was cleaning the birds cages and all of a sudden it felt like about 200' outside. This happened 3 times and I called the Dr. Very few people soo far have had this side effect. I quit the med. That was at he beginning of summer, and it is normal here to be about 100' outside, didn't want to struggle alll summer ect. Topamax for the most part didn't really help my head either. I was still needing to take the midrin.
