Does self-hypnosis help with pain management and/or with reducing the frequency and/or severity of migraines you get monthly? If so, please tell me about your experiences and what has worked best.

Hi hemiswat,
Here's the thing, Migraine is a genetic neurologic disease. Identifing and managing triggers, preventing Migraine attacks, aborting an attack and using rescue medications when necessary, are all part of a good Migraine management plan. In addition, complementary therapies like massage, biofeedback, self-hypnosis, and acupuncture all can be part of this plan too.
In my experience, I've done biofeedback, acupressure, cranial sacral manipulation, physical therapy, massage, and chiropractic. Unfortunately, none of these helped reduce the frequency or severity of my Migraines or chronic pain. This of course doesn't mean it won't help others.
Best bet is to try keeping a Migraine diary, you can find that HERE, to see what if any potential food and/or non food triggers may be triggering a Migraine attack for you. Then you can diary what works and doesn't work to abort your Migraines. Our Migraine trigger page, Migraine Triggers, has lots of information for you.
Good luck
Nancy
