Hi I'm new to this site. I was diagnoses with basilar migranes in 1996.it took a while to get them under control. It felt like I had long fingernails digging into my scalp. I would get slurred speech and difficulty walking and confusion, almost passing out. florecent lighting and many perfumes have always been a big problem. I have been on a dose of 120mg propranol 2x's a day. But I have been getting steady pain at the base of my neck for days. I'm thinking I need a dosage change. New rule at work they want the lights left on.

Valpramil was one of the first preventatives that was prescribed to me with that noted, i tried it and it seemed to work for a little while, but after about 2 mths, it stopped working. I am on several different meds for migraines and right now my neurologist has me on proponal, which is pretty much the same kinda medication (blood pressure medication) and i seem to be doing very well on it. Good luck, maybe it will work. Reply

I was also for my high blood pressure and because it is supposed to help migraineurs. So far it  has not worked for my my migraines but has for the high blood pressure, except when I am having a margin.

There are problay others who have had success with this.
